At Our Urban Farm, we do not raise any animals for food (yet). We are, however, fortunate to have neighbors who have raised chickens for about 10 years. In fact, some of their current chickens are about 10 years old, which is shockingly old for a chicken.
This spring they added some younger gals to their flock. Today, I stopped by to say hi and snap a couple of pictures. As a neighbor to the chickens we love the soft, gentle sounds they make. Some day, we hope to have some of our own so we can use the eggs in our pastas.
George and I have been talking about getting chickens for a couple of years, but we have not yet taken the plunge.
I'm excited to be able to learn about raising chickens and how to make their lives healthy and joyful.
