Boots on the Ground: The Twin Cities No Kill Story Premiere

Updated: Oct 5, 2020

It is a story that was 20 years in the making and it could change the way you think about animal sheltering. It begins in a pretty dark place in the year 1999. That year, animal shelters in the USA killed about 8 million dogs and cats. In the Twin Cities metropolitan area, animal shelters killed about 20,000 - the overwhelming majority of them perfectly healthy.

Boots on the Ground: The Twin Cities No Kill Story describes how that killing was brought to a stop by a small group of advocates who decided to take on the system, challenge strongly-held beliefs and create a better world for people and animals.

The film is as much of a history lesson about an important shelter reform effort in Minnesota's largest metro area as it is a call to animal shelters and animal welfare organizations to do the right thing going forward by leaving the shameful past in the rear view mirror.

The film will premiere on YouTube on Wednesday, October 14 at 7:30 PM Central. Watch the premiere here, and invite your family and friends. Until then, you can watch trailers and clips here.
