The video above is an oldie but a goodie, made when I (Mike) was still working full-time. Though the video is 13 years old, not a lot has changed since it was made. We still measure out economic growth based on how much we consume of the Earth each year. For many people, the holiday season is more about the purchases of stuff than the real spirit of any of the holidays. And, our household is still not buying into any of it. One thing has changed: there is more awareness of the existential threat posed by the climate crisis. Few, however, have fundamentally changed the ways they live and consume as a result of that awareness. This video is, therefore, as relevant today as it was in 2006. Give it a watch and see if if causes you to rethink the way you will celebrate this season.
