What you Need:
1 to 2 cups of your favorite berries (depending on type)
1/2 cup softened butter
Dry Ingredients
2 - 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 - 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Wet ingredients
1 egg
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions:
Begin by mixing the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Then mix the wet ingredients in another bowl.
Slowly fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and then fold in the softened butter.
After the butter is well mixed, add in the berries.
Divide the very sticky dough into 8 to 10 even portions and place on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake in a pre-heated oven set to 400 degrees f. for 20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
Notes:
These scones freeze very well and can be thawed and warmed in an over set to 350 degrees. A perfect morning treat. Enjoy!
