With temperatures outside dropping, it was time to bring our Rosemary bushes inside. In spite of us using copious amounts of rosemary in our sauces, baking and other cooking, our plants grew to enormous dimensions this year. In order to fit them into the solarium we needed to do some heavy pruning. They grew so much over the spring and summer! After pruning, they still about three feet tall!
We pruned so much off that we have a giant plastic bag full of fresh cut, organic Rosemary.
We do not have a distiller, so making essential oils is not very realistic. We have, however, started drying some and we plan to make rosemary-infused cooking oils, which should be wonderful for making pastas, pizza dough and other general cooking. We are also going to make Rosemary coconut oil for eating and for lotion. Naturally, our plants will continue growing, too. Its a good thing we LOVE Rosemary and that there are so many things we can do with it.
